Chidinma Akpaleji Kalu

My name is Chidinma Akpaleji Kalu. I am from the Eastern part of Nigeria. My mother tongue is Igbo but the official language in my country is English.

Living in Seinäjoki with my family has been very interesting, the city offers almost all aspects of good life. There is a good quick connection to other cities in Finland, quality social life activities all year round, safe environment, affordable housing options, good career paths, and entrepreneurship opportunities.

My daily life revolves around school activities, work and family. I have little social life experience now because I am still trying to understand my environment and the Finnish culture. Nevertheless, I have few friends from different nationalities, and we are all getting along perfectly.

Presently, I am studying at Seinäjoki University of Applied Science (SEAMK). A final year student of International Business. I must state that I have been impacted positively through knowledge acquisition. I can handle business opportunities better by the reason of the knowledge and studies I have acquired. Studying at SEAMK has also sharpened my ICT skills, financial management skills, business communication skills as well as how to handle language barrier in the business world.

I am currently working as an intern at the South Ostrobothnia Chamber of Commerce as part of my study requirement. Chamber of Commerce is an organisation of business owners and entrepreneurs, they promote the interest of their local business community. They equally provide access to valuable resources and relationship that can develop businesses. Chamber of commerce hosts events that drive foot traffic, advocates for policies that benefit business and the community. Working at the Chamber of Commerce as an intern has enabled me to experience a lot of professional development opportunities.
